To mark our 25th anniversary, we are highlighting the story of our founding. This canvas tote bag features our logo on one side, and an excerpt from an archival document on the other. In 1994, a group of NYU undergraduates formed the Inter-Asian Council to fight for Asian American studies at NYU. They drafted and circulated this document, demanding the hiring of full time faculty & a dedicated Asian American Studies Program.

This canvas tote bag features a sketched image of an NYU student standing in solidarity with Columbia students who, in 1996, demanded Ethnic Studies on their campus and led a historic fifteen day hunger strike. The events uptown put pressure on NYU administration to act quickly and respond to student demands on our campus.
