Chemical Hygiene for Schools

Your learning objectives for this course include:

1. Understanding the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) and Maine Bureau of Labor Standards (BLS) requirements for laboratory safety and chemical hygiene.
2. Learning what you can do to prepare your lab environment and equipment for safe learning and exploration.
3. Becoming familiar with safe lab practices, including proper labeling, storage, disposal, training and record keeping.
4. Becoming familiar with the required personal protective equipment that should be available in your lab.
5. Understanding what to do when there is a problem in your lab.
6. Knowing how to develop your own chemical hygiene plan.

After completing the course, you will take a post-test. Once you earn at least 80% on the post- test, you will earn your certificate of completion.
