KidSpot 2025 - Week One
Summer at San Jacinto College Central Theatre (8060 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, 77505) presents an ideal opportunity for a child to experience the range of activity possible at a theatre. We are proud and excited to present to you the eighteenth annual KidSpot Summer Musical Theatre Camp for Youth. This summer experience is formatted into a fun-filled, one-week camp. This camp is for youth ages 5 (child must have completed one year of formal training in an educational environment with other children, like kindergarten) to 18. The camp will meet from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Extended drop off/pick up times is available for an extra fee of $50, 7:30 am drop off and 5:30 pm pickup (after 5:30 pm the payee's credit card will be charged an extra $15 at the start of each 30-minute increment). Through active involvement, participants will develop acting skills while participating in workshops (participants will be divided in age groups). These workshops may include movement, voice, theatre games, improvisations, stage acting, film acting, character development and production. The daily rehearsals will culminate in a stage production at the end of the week. Week 1 runs June 9 through June 13. Week 2 runs June 23 through June 27 (This week is a repeat of the first week camp). Camp details will be sent to all participants the Saturday before camp begins. Early Application DEADLINE is May 9th, but enrollment will continue until the camp fills or the day the camp begins (Enrollment on the day of the Camp will require cash only and payment will take place though our Business Office). Apply early; enrollment in the camps is limited! If you are enrolling multiple children, you must register and pay for each child separately. Code of Conduct: KidSpot and SJCC Department of Theatre and Film strive to create a positive and safe educational environment for our participants. For this reason, we have a “zero tolerance” policy towards inappropriate behavior. Such behavior, as judged by Camp Counselors and/or Camp Supervisors, is defined as: offensive language, topics of conversation that may be considered rude or inappropriate, abusing or damaging college property, and/or any physical contact that is considered harmful, improper or unwanted. Violation of this Code will result in the immediate expulsion of the Camp participant(s). In addition, this camp does not allow excessive teasing and/or rough housing. Unlike the behavior mentioned above, excessive teasing and/or rough housing will be given one verbal warning. After this warning, these actions will be treated as the same as the more serious behavioral problems and will be treated as the same. Refund Policy: A 100% refund will be available until April 25th. After this time, 80% will be given until May 2nd. No refunds will be given after May 2nd. No refunds will be given as a result of a child not receiving the part they want in the production. No refunds will be given due to expulsion from the camp as a result of violating the Code of Conduct, regardless of when the offence happens. Also, no refunds or makeup days will be given due to an “Act of God.” For further explanation on the refund policy, please contact Dr. Jerry Ivins at jerry.ivins@sjcd.edu. Please note: KidSpot is not a Dependent Care or Daycare Provider for tax purposes.
Important Notice: Our Camp Leaders are degreed professionals in Theatre, and the Counselors are college students trained in Theatre. Neither the Leaders or the counselors are trained to teach or supervise children with learning disabilities and/or behavioral challenges. Explicit communication of a child's needs in these areas must be discussed with Dr. Ivins prior to registering for the camp. If these challenges interrupt the camp in a negative way, if the child does not listen and follow direction of the counselors, and/or result in unwanted physical contact, the child could be expelled from the camp without a refund. Communication prior to registration is paramount.
