William A. Chaffin Jr. ROTC "Quarter Horse" Scholarship
After graduating from Nevada, former ROTC member and ASUN President William A. Chaffin Jr. '66 (political science) served in the U.S. Army for three years, advancing in rank to captain. He served in the 1st Squadron, 4th United States Cavalry, 1st Infantry "Quarter Horse" Division and was awarded two Bronze Stars and the Purple Heart while serving in Vietnam from 1967-68. Bill is past president of the Sacramento Alumni Chapter, a University of Nevada, Reno Foundation trustee emeritus, a 2008 Nevada Alumni Association Service Award honoree and a 2014 Outstanding College of Liberal Arts Alumnus. Bill's unwavering dedication to the University continues through the creation of a scholarship to support students in the ROTC Wolf Pack Battalion.
