ATYP Portfolio Submission Site

This site is for uploading all the information needed to attempt to qualify for ATYP by using a portfolio instead of taking the SAT or ACT.

You will need to fill out information about the student (name, school, grade) as well as the name and email address of a counselor at the school who can provide NWEA/MAP (or other nationally-normed) test scores and grades. You will also need to provide the name and email address of a teacher in math or English Language Arts that we can contact for a recommendation for your student (not both since you cannot use this method to qualify for both math and English). Lastly, the student will need to upload a short (1-2 paragraph) personal statement which should include what excites them about learning, why they want to take ATYP, what skills or traits they possess that will help them to succeed, or what skills or traits they should cultivate to be successful. English students must submit a writing sample and math students must take a math placement test. Information on submitting these pieces will be sent by email after initial review of the submission.

If your student has not taken any nationally-normed tests, then an aptitude test will be required. More information on taking the aptitude test will be provided later.

You must submit a portfolio for each student separately if you have more than one student. Each student can only submit a portfolio OR take a test; students cannot do both.

The cost for portfolio submission is $50. If you receive free or reduced lunch, please email the office at atyp-info@wmich.edu to receive a waiver code.
