Master Gardener
Becoming a Master Gardener takes commitment to your own personal growth in knowledge and to improving your community. Being certified as a Master Gardener in Tennessee requires completion of the Tennessee Extension Master Gardener program, for a cost of $175, which includes the Tennessee Master Gardener Handbook. Couples may attend for an additional $50, only one handbook is provided. As an intern, you will need to complete 40 hours of volunteerism and 8 CEU’s (continued education units) before the end of the year of your course. Each course is taught over 14 weeks, starting at the end of January through the last week of April. The course is organized around weekly teachings, hands-on activities, some field trips, seminars, and projects. Each year is unique in experiences and shaped by the members. 

Registration opens in October and closes at the end of the first week of January. 

2026 Tennessee Extension Master Gardener Program will begin January 28th and run through April 30th. 
The 2026 class will be on Thursdays from 5pm-7pm. Class is capped at 25 participants. 

In order to complete your application, you will need to fill out the application found at Master Gardener Application. Please print and return completed forms to Giles County Extension office.

The paper copies are available UT-TSU Giles County Extension Office at 132 S. 2nd St. Pulaski, TN 38478. Both forms must be completed to register.

Prices range from $10.00 to $225.00 (price depends on options selected)
