It’s Chick Chain time in Lawrence County!
As a participant in the Chick Chain Project, you will receive either 12, 16, or 25 chicks in early spring. The chicks will be pullets (females) that are 1 or 2 days old. Pullets will be from a reputable hatchery and will be appropriately vaccinated. 4-Hers will be able to choose between Red-Sex Links or Black-Sex Links.

Within approximately 20 weeks of receiving your pullets, you will bring 6 of your pullets to the 4-H Poultry Show and Auction at the Lawrence County Extension Office in October. Proceeds from the auction will go to the 4-H Chick Chain Project to purchases pullets for next year.

Participants will be required to pay a deposit for their pullets. If the participant auctions off their pullets at the 4-H Poultry Show and Auction, they will receive their deposit back, and the remaining birds are theirs to keep.

Prices range from $50.00 to $90.00 (price depends on options selected)
