Founded in 1926, the New Mexico Historical Review is one of the oldest and most distinguished historical journals in the country. Publishing high quality research on New Mexico and the Southwest, including northern Mexico, each issue is filled with scholarly articles, book reviews and notes on new notable publications, news and current events. All illustrated by rare photographs, maps, and drawings.

The New Mexico Historical Review is published through the sponsorship of the Department of History in the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of New Mexico as a service to the citizens of the state. New Mexico Historical Review operations and production are supported by the assistance of the New Mexico State Legislature and the University of New Mexico and by the generosity of the journal's sponsors, patrons, benefactors, and subscribers.
