UAB 2018 TRUMPET SYMPOSIUM

UAB 2018 TRUMPET SYMPOSIUM
The UAB Trumpet Symposium

Friday February 8th and Saturday, February 9th, 2018

This year's featured clinicians will be the US Naval Academy Brass Quintet along with Dr. James Zingara, and Dr. Steve Roberts of the UAB trumpet faculty. A highlight of the Symposium will be the High School Honors Trumpet Ensembles, which are considered as “Honor Bands for Trumpet.” The students prepare pieces for performance in an all-trumpet environment, and learn specific techniques involved with improving listening and ensemble skills. The honors ensembles are open to all motivated trumpet players of high school age, with the recommendation email from their directors (please send to jzingara@uab.edu) . Exceptional 8th grade students may also participate. The $40.00 registration fee covers 3.5 hours of instruction, 2 clinics, dinner on Friday evening, a faculty recital, a medal, and a Trumpet Symposium T-Shirt. They will also be featured in the Saturday afternoon Festival of Brass Concert in which they will perform their Honors Ensemble pieces as well as participate in a Mass Finale with the UAB Trumpet Ensemble.
Student participation will be from 4:00 – 9:30pm on Friday and from 8:30am to 4:00pm on Saturday.

UAB BASKETBALL GAME OPTION: For NO EXTRA COST, Symposium attendees can perform the National Anthem before the UAB vs. Charlotte Men’s Basketball Game and perform as part of the UAB Blazer Basketball Band during the game. A pizza dinner will be provided before the game for attendees who select this option. If this option is selected, the students would be obligated to stay through the entire game, which will end sometime around 10:00pm (Exceptions will be granted to students accompanied by an adult).
Refunds cannot be made once the Trumpet Symposium fees have been processed.
