About this course
This course is funded by the Texas Department of Agriculture and managed by the Department of Food Science and Technology, Texas A&M University.
This course follows the curriculum of the Produce Safety Alliance for understanding key issues of requirements of the Final Rule 21 CFR Part 112, Standards for The Growing, Harvesting, Packing, And Holding of Produce for Human Consumption. After successful completion of the training, participants will be able to obtain a PSA/AFDO Certificate of Course Completion.
The course will be divided in the following seven modules:
1. Introduction to Produce Safety
2. Worker Health and Hygiene
3. Soil Amendments
4. Wildlife and Domestic Animals Management
5. Agricultural Water Safety (Pre- and Post-harvest)
6. Post-harvest Handling and Sanitation
7. How to Write a Food Safety Plan
