Advanced choral conducting techniques and analysis of choral scores. Students will conduct in class from choral repertoire that will be chosen from representative works of the important style periods in music history, including Gregorian Chant, the Middle Ages, Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and a variety of 20th century styles. Some class time will also be devoted to presentation and discussion of appropriate choral literature of high quality in the school curriculum.

About the Instructor:
Dr. Vernon Huff is the Coordinator of Choral Ensembles and Assistant Professor of Choral Music Education at The State University of New York at Fredonia, where he teaches courses in conducting, choral methods, graduate music education classes, and conducts the Chamber Choir and Masterworks Chorus. He has taught elementary and secondary choral music in California, Ohio, and South Carolina. Huff earned his DMA from Arizona State University, his MM from The Ohio State University, and his BM from Furman University. He has also earned National Board certification in Choral Music, Early Adolescence through Young Adulthood. Huff has led clinics, adjudicated festivals, and conducted choirs throughout the United States, including interest sessions at state, regional, and national ACDA conventions. He currently serves as Resources and Repertoire Coordinator for Colleges and Universities for the New York chapter of the American Choral Directors Association and is Director of Music at Fredonia First United Methodist Church.
