Get your Western Civilization Global Perspectives gen ed while studying in the French Riviera! Experience Cannes, Monaco and l’Île Sainte-Marguerite. In this study abroad version of FRH 1610, we’ll study locations and texts unique to the French Riviera. You will gain first-hand knowledge of some of the most fascinating historical events of the 19 th  and 20 th  centuries as they apply to the Côte d’Azur (from Napoleon through to the present-day film industry in France). FRH 1610 is an on-campus class during the winter 2023 semester. The optional study abroad component of this class runs from May 1 - May 12, 2023.


This course is conducted in English and knowledge of French is not required. You will study texts explicating the cultural history of the French Riviera and the Côte d’Azur, from Napoleon to Picasso to the Cannes Film Festival.


The cost of $2,500 includes accommodations in France. International airfare is not included.
