British Studies at Oxford

Summer II 2019

Dates: July 26 - August 17, 2019

The British Studies at Oxford Program is designed to immerse students in the historical, cultural, and social milieu that has informed the ideas, events and works studied in our courses.

Students enroll in four-week, four-credit courses of study in International Studies (Introduction to Britain), Literature (Drama: Plays in Performance), Literature (British Literature: Potter-ing through British Literature), Western Civilization (The Medieval World), Political Science (Britain and World Affairs since 1900), and History (Britain and World Affairs since 1900)

Courses are taught by local faculty incorporating local resources (archives, museums, guest speakers, performances, and field trips).

Residence at Worcester College of Oxford University is included in the program cost.

Program cost includes walking tours of Oxford and Oxford museums, local recreation, and excursions to London (including entrance to the National Theatre, the Globe Theatre, the British Museum, the Imperial War Museum, and the British Library), and excursions to Stonehenge, Avesbury, and Salisbury Cathedral, and to the City of Bath. The excursion to the Warner Bros. Harry Potter Studio and the ticket surcharge for the Drama: Plays in Performance course carry an extra cost.
