Financial Planning and Retirement

This class delves into the science and methodology of stock trading and investment. Students will be shown how to use computers for quick and painless calculations, will be introduced on how to use online platforms for self-guided trading and investment, advanced techniques for research and analysis of a company within an industry and an industry within an economy.

Students will learn different types of income investments that include bank CD's, treasury bonds, corporate bonds, tax-free municipal bonds, preferred stocks, dividend paying common stocks and annuities. We will go over risks involved and how one can invest in the different income investments.

Understanding how the stock market works is important. Using basic skills like addition and subtraction, the principles of economics are learned through guided practice in common trading and investing methods. Students learn to then apply these basic math skills to undertake sophisticated economic analysis and gain the ability to estimate current values of a stock and anticipate its future value too. Includes a workshop for the student to plan their portfolio.
