Firearms Training & Safety

Students will learn how to effectively and safely use a firearm from a holster and unconventional shooting positions. This course is NOT recommended for people with little or no firearms training or experience and it qualifies for the Colorado Concealed Carry License. Please bring your firearm, holster that is proper fit to firearm and user, hearing and eye protection, and wear clothing appropriate for Colorado weather conditions. All ammo is provided.

In this course, participants will learn the basics of reloading procedures; information about choosing powders, primers and bullets; different types of reloading equipment and their proper setup and operation, as well as trouble shooting when things don’t go as expected. The last class session will be devoted to actual reloading of cartridges. This is an NRA Certificate course.

This course will go beyond the Ammunition Reloading Level 1 course to cover topics such as experimentation, using bullet comparators to get precise measurements of your rounds, measuring chamber, adjusting seating/crimping dies to your gun's chamber, optimal bullet seating, necking up/down, minimizing runout, and bullet concentricity.

This class includes training on basic pistol operation and presents scenarios for responding to active shooter situations. This course is good for people who are new to rifle shooting, or need a refresher on how to safely handle a rifle. Completion of a basic handgun course is recommended, but not required.

Students will learn how to properly and safely utilize a concealed carry holster, the responsibility the student accepts for carrying a firearm, understand the expectations from law enforcement in the event of an incident, and be able to decide when it is appropriate to use a firearm in self-defense, and when other means of defense may be more appropriate. Prerequisite: This course may NOT be taken without certificate of a basic handgun course.

In this course students will learn basics of defensive and competitive shooting, how to quickly acquire targets, how to safely and effectively engage targets under stress with limited engagement times, and learn the basics on how to shoot while moving. Previous rifle training or experience is required (military, law enforcement, certificate from prior rifle training course. If in doubt contact us and we will discuss if prior training fills the prerequisite).
