Mary D. Alanis was a math instructor at EPCC for several years and she made El Paso her home. After her tragic death her parents created the scholarship fund to honor their daughter, and to give back to EPCC who they felt had accepted Mary with an open heart. During the past several years we have awarded scholarships.
Mary found her purpose in life sharing her joy of mathematics with her students. She loved her work and nothing gave her more delight than a student's success, especially when that success came after much determination and perseverance. This scholarship honors her memory and the confidence we have in EPCC students to set a goal of their personal best and to have the perseverance to attain it.
