2014 Diversity and Leadership Conference

Ignite: Opening Minds, Embracing Differences, Transforming Communities

PURPOSE

The Diversity and Leadership Conference is designed for individuals from different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives to exchange information, dialogue, and engage in critical thinking exercises to enhance self-awareness, multicultural competency, and leadership skill-set. Participants will hopefully apply information and behaviors learned to advance their personal development and to create healthy communities.

LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT OUTCOMES:

    Multicultural Competence

  • Develop a common understanding of diversity, multiculturalism, and social justice
  • Become self-aware about ones’ own identity, biases, triggers and comfort zones
  • Learn how to work collaboratively with people different from self and with different points of view

    Leadership Development

  • Enhance understanding of leadership style and personal philosophy
  • Analyze the influences of social identities on leadership style
  • Exhibit democratic principles as a leader or group member

    Civic Engagement & Social Responsibility

  • Recognize social systems and their influence on people
  • Identify strategies to serve and improve their communities
  • Learn how to educate and facilitate the civic engagement of others

    Practical Competence

  • Identify individual goals to enhance personal and professional growth and development
  • Construct an action plan to improve in identified areas of growth
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills learned in the classroom, workplace, and in their community

  • $25.00 Admission for all Clayton State faculty and staff.
  • $50.00 Admission for Non-Clayton State participants.

Complete the registration application in its entirety. Incomplete registration applications will not be accepted.

The deadline to submit your Registration Application is Friday, September 30, 2014.

Applications can be submitted online, in-person, by fax, or mailed.
