For too long our use of the word “gospel” has focused more on individual decision-making about baptism and what happens when we die. Healthy churches lean into a larger perspective rooted in Jesus’ proclamation, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent, and believe in the gospel” (Mark 1:14).
