The 2026 Great Plains Fire Summit brings together researchers and practitioners of prescribed fire throughout the Great Plains!

Kansas and Oklahoma are proud to host this year and to highlight how the prescribed burning efforts of local and regional neighbors are improving conservation outcomes between partners in our ecosystems and beyond!

Rancher Registration: Early Fee: $120, After June 30th: $140

Student Registration: Early Fee: $120, After June 30th: $140

· 1:00 pm: Optional Burn Workshop

 

WEDNESDAY FIELD TRIP

Join us on a bus tour to visit Gyp Hills private ranches utilizing prescribed burning for multiple objectives, including wildlife habitat, livestock grazing, woody plant control, and recovery after wildfire. A chaining demonstration for removing standing dead trees may be included. Lunch will be at the Gyp Hills Guest Ranch. Buses will be provided.

Lead Ignitor Award Nominations 

Please nominate individuals or groups to be recognized for significant accomplishments, innovations, or work in prescribed fire across the Great Plains States.

Photo Contest

Submit your entries showcasing the beauty of the Great Plains and highlighting the culture and work being done across the region.

All entries will be posted on the Great Plains Fire Science Exchange social media page and a winner from each category will be voted on by the public.

Winners of each of the three categories will receive a $25 gift card.
