Reading and Writing: *Grades 6-12
This workshop will be held weekly via Zoom on Tuesday evenings from 6:00-7:00 p.m. (Central Time Zone) beginning February 10th, 2026 through April 28th, 2026. Participants will need access to a laptop or iPad with an updated version of Zoom as well as their own paper notebook. Sessions will include instruction using a variety of writing strategies and technology-assisted activitiesin order to develop writing craft.. This workshop will support critical thinking and joy in writing as well as nurture student’s self-efficacy and confidence while allowing them to make university connections. Weekly meetings will include reading a range of genres, studying great writers, and working to develop a new piece of writing with the option to publish it in a book available on Amazon!

There is a $35.00 enrollment fee for the program; this covers instruction and access to resources. Applications will be accepted until January 23rd, 2026 or until spots are filled. Early enrollment is encouraged as a limited number are available. Attendance is very important to this workshop, so please be sure to register only if you think you know your student's schedule allows them to make this weekly commitment.

To reach optimum efficiency, assessments and evaluations may be administered to determine initial placement, identification of strengths, needs, and progress. Whenever student records are used in an instructional situation, confidentiality is maintained in compliance with the Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (PL 93-380). Whenever student records are used for research purposes, confidentiality is maintained in compliance with the OSU Institutional Review Board and Title 45 Code of Federal Regulations Part 46 (45 CFR 46 "Basic HHS Policy for the Protection of Human Subjects”).
