Application for Grades 6-12 Reading Workshop
Fall 2024 – Remote, Online Workshop

Reading: *Grades 6-12  

This workshop will be held weekly via Zoom on Tuesday evenings from 7:30-8:15 p.m. (Central Time Zone) beginning October 15th through December 3rd. *There will not be a workshop on November 26th due to the University's Fall Break.

Participants will need access to a laptop or iPad with an updated version of Zoom as well as their own paper notebook. Sessions will include instruction using a variety of reading strategies and technology-assisted activities. This workshop will support critical thinking and joy in reading as well as nurture student’s self-efficacy and confidence while allowing them to make university connections. Weekly meetings will include reading a range of genres, studying great writers, and discussing the craft and message of a variety of texts including word study and analysis to promote powerful reading practices.

There is a $50.00 enrollment fee for the program; this covers instruction and access to resources.Applications will be accepted until October 1, 2024 or until spots are filled. Early enrollment is encouraged as a limited number are available. Attendance is very important to this workshop, so please be sure to register only if you think you know your student's schedule allows them to make this weekly commitment.

Please Note: Sessions are recorded throughout the semester for research, diagnostic, and/or instructional purposes. To reach optimum efficiency, assessments and evaluations may be administered to determine initial placement, identification of strengths, needs, and progress. Whenever student records are used in an instructional situation, confidentiality is maintained in compliance with the Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (PL 93-380).
