Writing & Remembrance: Strategies for the Teaching the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre
This interactive 3-day workshop offers teachers (grades 5-12) curriculum ideas and strategies to address the events of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre (formerly the Tulsa Race Riot). As we approach the centennial commemoration of this tragic event in Oklahoma’s history, classroom curriculum should consider the impact this continues to have on our community. Using literature, writing, field trips, and guest speakers, participants will build curriculum and resources to take back to their classroom. All participants will receive books, digital resources, and a professional development certificate for hours completed.
