Cheer Team Tryout Packet

Thursday: Tryout Workshop - 4:00-7:00pm
Friday: Prelims/First Cut - 12:00pm start
Saturday: Final Round - TBA start
Team Announced/First Team Meeting following Announcement TBA

Application Fee: $30

Tryout Requirements

• Must be admitted to Weber State University and have a 2.0 GPA.
• Fight Song: (taught at workshop)
• Jumps
  • 3 Connected Jumps
  • Toe-Touch Back Tuck/Full
• Standing Tumbling
  • Standing Tuck/Full
  • Up to 2 additional Back Passes
• Running Tumbling
  • Two Running Passes of choice on a dead mat
• Stunts
  • Toss (or full up variation) to heel stretch with Double Down Dismount
  • Optional- 2 Elite Stunts connected in one series (touch the floor once)
  • Elite male and female tumblers may substitute double down with pop off dismount variation and can substitute optional stunt sequence with additional elite tumbling pass
• Dress: Collegiate Image, Practice Attire/Tryout Ready
• Please bring a printed headshot (photo) with you on the first day of tryouts.
• If participant makes it to the final round of tryouts there will be a short interview in front of the spirit squad coaches and panel of judges. Please know our head coaches, what division we are in, our Weber State president. As well as, be prepared to answer questions about yourself.

Video Tryouts
In Person Attendance is STRONGLY Recommended. Video Tryouts Due Wednesday, May 6th. Provide a Youtube Video Tryout Link when completing the Tryout Application.

Tryout Video Must Include:

• Personal Introduction: Name/Age/From and Answer the Questions:
  • Why Weber?
  • Who are your Greatest Influences
• Tryout Skills Listed ABOVE under TRYOUT REQUIREMENTS (all tumbling will need to be performed on dead mat).

Participation in tryouts and ultimately making the team is a privilege. WSU reserves the right to prohibit an individual's participation in tryouts and to cut an individual at any time during the tryout process for any lawful reason.

Medical Release
I affirm that I have medical and dental insurance which effectively covers any medical/dental costs incurred as a result of participation in the Weber State Spirit Squad Tryouts. I acknowledge the potential risk of injury related to physical activity associated with participation in the Weber State Spirit Squad Tryouts. The University, squad advisor, coach, and workshop instructors will not be held liable for any injuries that may occur. Further, I will provide proof of insurance in the event of an accident or injury.
