Employee Lifeguard Recertification

The American Red Cross Lifeguard course provides participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic emergencies as well as provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries, and sudden illnesses

Participants are required to attend all course sessions and pass a written and skills test with at least 80% in order to pass. The minimum age for this class is 15 years old.

Pre-Requisites
Swim 300 yards non-stop (front crawl or breaststroke) using rhythmic breathing
Timed Event: Swim 20 yards, retrieve 10 lb brick from 7-10ft deep, swim 20 yards with brick within 1 minute 40 seconds
Tread water using only legs for 2 minutes

Informed Consent

The undersigned in consideration for the right to participate in the below described activity (“Activity”) hereby agrees to this waiver and release. I recognize that the Activity may have a risk of personal injury and/or damage to my property. I hereby freely assume all risks which may be associated with or result from participating in the Activity including, but not limited to: travel to and from, instruction, participation, and competition. I further agree to release the State of Utah, Weber State University (WSU), their officers, employees, agents, contractors and volunteers (“Releasees”) from any and all liability, claims, demands, actions, loss, claim, damage, injury, illness, or harm (“Claims”) to me of any kind or nature arising out of participation in the Activity including where Claims occur due to the negligence of Releasees. I also agree that The American Red Cross and its officer, employees, agents, contractors and volunteers is included as a Releasee.
