The African American Women in Pharmacy Conference is a unique event that offers an opportunity to participate in a sharing of ideas on the roles, accomplishments, and preservation of the legacy of African American women in pharmacy. This conference will include historical and current educational programming designed to educate, inspire, and motivate members of the pharmacy profession and the community on the impact of African American women pharmacists as healthcare providers. The primary host organization is the University Of South Florida College Of Pharmacy. Supporting host departments and organizations will include USF College of Medicine, Nursing, Public Health, Women Health Collaborative, Women & Genders Studies, and several minority and health care organizations. The programs are designed for pharmacists, pharmacy students, technicians, and any other health professionals interested in updating their knowledge on minority women healthcare providers in pharmacy. This conference is being publicized nationally through the USF College of Pharmacy website, USF Health, local media, national and local healthcare organizations and institutions, and universities across the nation.

Conference Goals
• To present a historical review of the role of African American women in pharmacy.
• Educate students, pharmacists, and other health care providers on challenges and accomplishments of African American Women pharmacists.
• Present current trends in pharmacy practice involving African American women pharmacists.
• Provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and strategies to address and preserve the legacy of African American women in pharmacy.

Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this conference, attendees should be able to:
• Describe the impact of African American women on the changing demographics in pharmacy;
• Identify early pioneering women pharmacists of African descent in America;
• Recognize the global impact that African women have had on the profession of pharmacy;
• Describe best practices of African American female pharmacists in education, business, community and civic service, and pharmacy practice;

Cancellation Policy: To receive a full-meeting refund, confirmed registrations must be cancelled in writing on or before October 19 (postmark or fax date). Written cancellations postmarked or faxed October 20- through November 9 will be subject to a $50 handling charge. Refunds will be issued only for cancellations postmarked or faxed before November 10.
