International Experience

Reading the Globe enables all First Year students to engage in a selected internationally focused book through their University Seminar Course during the Fall semester. This provides the opportunity for discourse about issues relevant to students and raises social awareness on a local and global scale.

After application, competitive essay and interview, a group of students is selected for a study-travel opportunity related to the setting of the Common Read utilized. To date, students have traveled to Poland, Ghana, Cambodia, Chile, Turkey, South Africa, and select countries in Eastern Europe.

Study abroad is a discovery process, a discovery of foreign language and academics, countries and cultures, but most importantly it is a discovery of yourself! It is our hope that you will participate in a program that will educate and enrich you. TAMIU has a comprehensive offering of study abroad programs, financial aid, and student services to guide you in this process.
