South Texas College Theatre & Dance returns for its seventeenth year with a full lineup of productions for the 2026-2027 season filled with comedy, improvisation, suspense, movement and imagination.

STC Theatre & Dance invites the community to join us for another year of fun and quality entertainment. All productions will be held at STC’s Cooper Center for Performing Arts, located at the Pecan Campus, 3200 W. Pecan Blvd. in McAllen.

We can’t wait to have you with us for a season of theatre and dance.  

Ticket admission for our productions is set at $5.00.  All tickets are general admission.

Hi, Everyone!

Thank you for your interest in submitting your play to the South Texas New Play Festival! We are excited to continue supporting and celebrating the development of new plays. Please make sure you have read all of the eligibility details before submitting.

• Paid $10 submission fee
• Plays will be blind read and scored by a panel of readers.
• Submitting author is (or authors, when in collaboration, are) sole owner(s) of script copyright.
• Previously unproduced
• Submitted as a single PDF with all pages numbered.
• 2 character minimum (no one person shows)
• No musical or film scripts
• Script should include synopsis
• Script should include a character breakdown/description
• Run time should be 30 minutes minimum - 90 minutes maximum
• Only one script can be submitted per playwright
• Only the first 50 play scripts submitted will be considered
• Script Formatting:  
• Font: 12-point Courier New or Times New Roman
• Margins: 1 inch on all sides
• Spacing: stage directions and dialogue single spaced, character names centered or slightly indented

Three finalists will be chosen and notified no later than April 1, 2027. The selected plays will be produced as staged readings for the 6th Annual STX New Play Festival June 2027. The selection of directors will happen late April and actor auditions will be held early May 2027. Rehearsals will run from late May to performances in June 2027.

At this time travel to and from the festival for the selected playwrights cannot be provided, but virtual and live streaming capabilities will be available through the rehearsal and live reading process.
