CALA Language Institute

The Center for Accelerated Language Acquisition (CALA), the official language training operation of the MTSU Honors College, offers cutting-edge language instruction in a variety of languages with methods based on research on how the brain learns best. These methods, TPR (Total Physical Response) and TPRS (Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling), create a class that is engaging, natural, and fun.

Our accelerated language classes are offered as five-day seminars and include American Sign Language (ASL), Chinese (Mandarin), French, Japanese, Latin, Spanish, and Tamil (Southern India). We also offer a methodology course for teachers wanting to learn how to use the comprehensible input tools of TPR and TPRS.
