Lakeland Community College is the first college in Ohio created by a vote of the people. Lake County citizens saw the need for a community college to train students for high-demand jobs and keep our workforce strong. Residents of Lake County support the college through two operating levies, and a capital improvement bond that keep Lakeland always working for Lake County. While Lakeland has grown and changed dramatically since its founding in 1967, the mission has remained the same – to provide quality learning opportunities to meet the social and economic needs of our community. Lakeland’s high quality and low tuition allow area residents to prepare for a great career or successful transfer to a four-year college or university. By law, public funds cannot be used to support levy campaigns. Every dollar – for yard signs, print materials, postage, and other ways the campaign will work to inform voters – must come from private donations from individuals, organizations, and businesses who care about keeping Lakeland and our workforce strong.
