52nd Lakeland Jazz Festival School Adjudication

Dear middle and high school Jazz Directors,

Lakeland Community College welcomes you and your jazz ensemble(s) to come and celebrate the 52nd Lakeland Jazz Festival - the oldest jazz festival in Ohio!

Program

This year’s festival will be held March 8th-10th, 2024 and will feature:

Serving The Schools: Jazz Ensemble Adjudication - Friday (9am to 4pm)

Saturday Evening Concert 8pm: 3D Jazz Trio

Sunday Afternoon Concert 4pm: TBA

Serving The Schools

Serving The Schools features an outstanding panel of jazz adjudicators from local and regional universities to work with your students. Ensembles will have have a half-hour warm-up time, then a half-hour of stage time:

Settle In: 5 mins.

Performance: 15 mins. (two or three pieces)

Mini-Clinic (on stage): 5-10 mins.

Exit Stage: 5 mins.

Follow-Up Clinic: 30 mins.

Each band is expected to perform on time to facilitate the follow-up clinic. Following stage time, bands will go to a follow-up clinic to work in detail with one of this year’s adjudicators. Also, be sure to pick up a flash drive of your performance before you leave the event. Come early and stay late!

Equipment

The Jazz Festival will provide guitar and bass amplifiers, drum kit with cymbals, and vibraphone, congas, and bongos. Any other equipment needed for your performance must be supplied by you and clearly marked with your school’s name.

Payment Information

Payment can be made through this platform or a check can be mailed to the Arts and Sciences Division at Lakeland Community College. Address: 7700 Clocktower Drive, Kirtland, OH 44094-5198. All participants must complete the Online "Serving The Schools" Application Form to be a part of the Annual Jazz Festival. Payment is $200 per ensemble per half-hour time slot. Please select quantity of jazz ensembles that will perform at the Lakeland Jazz Festival.

Please act now to reserve a performance time for your group since only a limited number of bands can be accepted for scheduling. Reservations will be made upon receipt of your payment on a first come, first served basis.

Note: If Festival events are cancelled by the College due to unexpected circumstances (including weather and pandemics), 50% of the fee will be refunded. The Online "Serving The Schools" Application Form and payment must be received by February 17th for a guaranteed reserved time slot and inclusion in the program.
