ASE Student Certification Testing

ASE Student Certification can be thought of as the first step in building a career as a service professional in the automotive industry. This is not the same certification as what the professionals earn. Although on the surface these tests may appear similar, the student certification exams are specifically designed and calibrated for inexperienced individuals who are preparing to enter the field after formal studies.

For each test, questions relate to one or more of the tasks on the related NATEF Task List. The questions are multiple choice. Normally, each test contains 40 – 60 scored questions and up to 15 additional non-scored items that are included for statistical purposes. The non-scored questions are not identified as such and will not count for or against a student’s results. For tests that contain 40 scored questions, ASE recommends that 60 minutes be scheduled for each test. For tests with 60 scored items (e.g. Maintenance and Light Repair), ASE recommends that 90 minutes be scheduled. Sample questions can be found on the www.ASEStudentCertifiation.com website.

All tests must be proctored. This means you must come to the campus to take the tests.
