MEDLIFE Donation

What: Medical Brigade When: May 19 - 26, 2018 Where: Riobamba, Ecuador Who: Illinois Tech students (specifically students from College of Science and Armour College of Engineering) Why: We students will be participating in a week-long medical brigade working with MEDLIFE, a non-profit organization, to set up mobile clinics and provide free healthcare check-ups to the members in the rural communities near Riobamba, Ecuador. This is a wonderful opportunity for those of us in the pre-medical community to gain exposure in the healthcare field. Not only is this an opportunity for pre-med students, but also for students studying in other areas. This year, our diverse travel team consists of Biomedical, Chemical, Electrical, and Architectural Engineering and Biology, Biochemistry, and Chemistry majors. The medical brigade gives us students a chance to partake in community service activities in an unfamiliar environment. The brigade will allow us to gain exposure to global healthcare and learn of the injustices that exist in communities less fortunate than our own. This experience will also help raise cultural awareness amongst our brigade members that can be brought back and implemented on campus and in our daily lives. Every donation is tax-free and will go towards paying for the expenses of our trip. We greatly appreciate your gift! Thank you, MEDLIFE-Illinois Tech 2018 Travel Team
