St. Philip’s College Library 3D Print Labs

The St. Philip’s College Library 3D Print Labs are offering 3D Printer service for students, employees, and the community. The Makerspace/3D Print Labs are located at the Center for Learning Resources, 2nd Floor (Room 211) and the SWC Library, Building 1 (C123C). We offer a full suite of 3D fabrication and modeling technologies that will bring your project to life. Whether it’s classwork, research or a personal project, staff at the Reference/Information desks can help you 3D print your model.

The labs have four Makerbot Sketch Printers and the SWC Lab has one Makerbot Method 3D Printer available. The printers use PLA filament (PLA plastic or polylactic acid) which is a vegetable-based plastic material, which commonly uses cornstarch as a raw material. It is the primary natural raw material used in 3D printing. PLA is a fully biodegradable thermoplastic polymer consisting of renewable raw materials. 3D printing charges are determined by the gram weight of the model resin used, plus the support material required to complete the build and tax. Price quotes are issued at the time of the consultation appointment. Payment is required before the model is printed.
